The survey found the average price statewide at $2.65. That's a nickel higher than a week earlier and seven cents more than the price one month prior. Old Dominion motorists paid 81 cents less per gallon a year ago. The D.C. metro area average hit $2.74 a gallon Tuesday. Analysts say the price at the pumps is following the price of crude.
